Matthew Phair is a New York-based writer and editor. He has authored literally hundreds of articles about heavy and light construction, with a focus on innovation and technology. Mr. Phair is currently the Information Technology columnist for Reed Business Information’s Building Design & Construction magazine.

Matthew Phair has run several successful residential and commercial contracting firms in the New York City area. Over the past 30 years, he has also been an integral part of several software development teams as an analyst, writer and trainer. He studied computer science and civil engineering at Polytechnic University, and holds a B.A. in English cum laude from Queens College.

Matt Phair concepted and wrote the critically acclaimed program "Deconstruction--The Science of Building a House," a 2-hour documentary for The Science Channel.

Matt's magazine editorial experience includes over 7 years at Times Mirror as a Senior Editor with Mechanix Illustrated; over 5 years at McGraw-Hill as the Senior Technology Editor with Engineering News-Record, and; more than 5 years at Reed Business Information as Editor of Constructioneer, a regional construction publication.
